Win with Thanks
What do you cherish most? Is it the things you once wanted? The things you now have but no longer feel that same excitement for? We all get excited for new material possessions. For example, a new computer, a new home, or a new car. But as time goes on, those things we once loved, we are now less appreciative of. As those material items become outdated and start to show the wear and tear of daily use, we aren’t so thankful for them.
How can something we once loved become something with which we have negative, or no emotion towards? Often times, it wasn’t the object that changed, but our perspective. We have lost the gratitude we once felt for these blessings. Somewhere along the way, we start to take them for granted.
It seems the things we cherish most are the things we are thankful for. The things that once were blessings or maybe never were, become blessings when we win them over with gratitude.
“Those blessings are sweetest that are won with prayers and won with thanks.” — Thomas Goodwin
